Development Process

Request Form

To request web development work, fill out a request form for a new site, a redesign, or an enhancement to an existing site.

The Web Solutions Team will contact you to get more detailed information about the project, including whether you are willing to start from an existing template or require a custom layout.

Web development proposals are reviewed by the Dean's Office to align priorities with limited resources.

Approval

The client is notified of the outcome of the review process, including the level of funding provided, if any, and projected start and completion dates.

Initial Meeting

Preliminary mock-ups based on the assessment stage of the process are reviewed at the initial meeting. The meeting also covers Arts & Sciences content standards and guidelines, identifies milestones, and addresses outstanding questions.

Review and Revision

Developers revise mock-ups and begin coding once the client has approved final design elements.

Content Loading

Designers populate the home page and several second-level pages with real content so that designers and clients can test-drive the navigation and usability of the site. Further template revisions may be necessary at this point based on client feedback.

Content Migration and Deployment

Designers supervise the migration of existing content into the new web site’s templates. Support is provided for synchronization of content, scheduling and deployment of the new site.

Training

Trainers visit client offices to ensure that designated Web Maintainers within the client group have a properly installed and configured Dreamweaver/Contribute license, and that these individuals are comfortable maintaining the content of their new web site.

Maintenance

Clients maintain site content via Dreamweaver or Contribute and the administrative interface of the Faculty Database System, if applicable.

Consultation

Designers are always available to answer questions related to web site design and deployment.
