The Office of Assessment, Trinity College is the institutional research arm of the Office of the Dean of Trinity College and Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education. Its main charge is to provide on-going analysis and research on Duke's undergraduate curriculum, courses, departments and programs in efforts to improve student learning at Duke. In addition, the office serves as a resource for departments and faculty. Areas of investigation include, but are not limited to, university wide course evaluations, curricular requirements, academic performance, academic advising, program and department level assessment, and grant related assessment.
The office works collaboratively with other university offices and constituencies to address questions raised by undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and university administrators. This collaboration involves development of project goals, measuring instruments (such as on-line surveys and focus groups), statistical analyses, and reporting mechanisms. The office also administers the student and Course\Program Electronic Portfolios.
