Duke in Rome (Next offered in 2009)

The Duke University Office of Study Abroad and the Department of Classical Studies, in conjunction with the Departments of History, and of Art and Art History, will offer a one-course program in Italy during the summer of 2009 under the direction of Professor Mary T. Boatwright, Boatwright (Dept. Classical Studies; adjunct, History). The program includes visits to historical sites and museums, walking lectures, and readings.

Duke in Venice (May 18 to June 28, 2008)

The Duke University Office of Study Abroad, in cooperation with Venice International University, will offer a six-week, two-course program in Venice, Italy in the summer of 2008. The program is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to study Venetian civilization, religion, culture, and art history, along with some of the ideas about art, politics, and religion that have been important in the shaping of modern thought. The city of Venice, with its scenic canals and islands, will serve as the participants' home and classroom for this six-week summer program.
