| Pembroke College existed originally as an educational
establishment dating from medieval times known as Broadgates Hall, an
area of the College which still exists today as part of the Senior Common
Room.
Each Oxford College has its own individual character. Pembroke is one of the smaller Colleges with the corresponding tradition of a small academic community with a world-wide reputation for academic excellence. Pembroke's Fellowship contains a balance of distinguished academic experience and exciting new scholars and teachers. Today the Fellowship consists of a Master, thirty-seven Governing Body Fellows and a number of Stipendiary and Retained Lecturers, who between them provide students with an educational experience of the highest quality covering most academic disciplines both old and new. The College presently has 80 graduates, 443 undergraduates and 36 visiting students, coming from a range of backgrounds, cultures and countries. Pembroke is particularly proud of the strong links it has established with students from the U.S.A., the European Union and the Middle and Far East. In addition to its academic purposes and strong pastoral commitment, Pembroke provides the best of Oxford tradition in terms of domestic and other services. For more, go to: http://www.pmb.ox.ac.uk.
