Sciences Po - Duke Program (via EDUCO/Duke in France)

Next available term: 2008-2009. Academic year applicants only.

Duke University students may enroll full-time at the prestigious Institut d'Etude Politique (Sciences Po) in Paris by special arrangement with the Duke in France/EDUCO program. Sciences Po students at EDUCO have a different academic calendar and a different set of courses to choose from, but enjoy the same student services and housing options and pay the same tuition and fees as other Duke in France/EDUCO students.

Academic Year Program: Duke students enroll in a full load of courses in the fall and spring semesters at Sciences Po. A Sciences Po dossier, in addition to the Duke in France/EDUCO application, must be submitted by March 1 of the year prior to study at Sciences Po. The Sciences Po application is on-line, and supporting materials must be presented as required. Please be aware that the exchange program is by special arrangement and general Sciences Po admissions guidelines as stated on the website may not apply. Duke will send one full-time candidate to Sciences Po per year. Candidates will be screened at the time of regular Duke in France admissions. Please see the note below regarding transfer credit and grading policies for Duke students attending Sciences Po.

NOTE: Due to the conflicting academic calendars of Sciences Po and Duke University, fall-only Duke in France/EDUCO students are not allowed to enroll at Sciences Po. Deadlines posted here are Duke deadlines for Sciences Po applicants.

Duke students are only allowed to study at the Sciences Po Paris campus and must take all their courses in French.

CREDITS AND GRADES

Full-time Duke students at Sciences Po are required to enroll in a total of at least 30 ECTS each semester. While this will amount to more than four courses, combined, the 30 ECTS credits will transfer as four course credits to Duke, provided you successfully complete your course work. All courses taken at Sciences Po will be transfer credit courses at Duke, meaning that students must make a C- or better to transfer the credits, but no grades will appear on the Duke transcript or be computed in the Duke GPA. (Please be aware that grades will appear on your Sciences Po transcript and may be subject to review when you apply to graduate, law, and professional schools in the future.) All courses must be approved by academic departments and approval requests must be channeled through the EDUCO Academic Services Coordinator, Valérie Herbunot.

NOTE: Although the Sciences Po credit is transfer credit, please be aware that failing grades will have a detrimental effect on your academic status at Duke.
