Program costs: Below are the estimated costs per semester for the 2008-2009 academic year. Prices are subject to change.

*This fee includes a one-time, lifetime transcript fee of $40.00

The following expenses are covered by the program:

  • tuition (four courses per semester)
  • program-sponsored cultural activities and excursions
  • services of the EDUCO Center
  • lodging in Paris
  • some meals (except for those living in student apartments)

The following expenses are some of the expenses not covered by the program:

  • airfare to and from Paris
  • special courses such as dance, studio art, and the like taken independently in Paris by the student
  • local transportation (bus, subway, etc.)
  • meals (Food and beverages are not included except in the case of program-sponsored excursions. Students who live with families will have breakfast provided and dinner three times a week.)
  • passports and visas
  • accident and health insurance (adequate coverage overseas is required of all participants)
  • independent travel and entertainment

Additional expenses: Additional expenses depend upon the tastes and habits of the individual. Students should be able to attend concerts, plays and movies, go sightseeing, visit museums and exhibits, take short weekend excursions, have an occasional dinner in a restaurant, and travel during the holiday periods. On average, previous students suggest the amount of around $4,200.00 per semester for personal expenses.

Financial Aid: Duke students receiving financial aid are eligible for aid for this program (work-study funds must be converted to loans). Students are individually responsible for making the necessary arrangements with the Office of Undergraduate Financial Aid and the Bursar. Non-Duke students are not eligible to receive financial aid at Duke and should contact their home institutions for financial aid information.
