Synopsis of course content
The major focus is on primary texts. The emphasis wll be on the
Presocriatics and the philosophical doctrines of Socrates, Plato,
and Aristotle.

Plato: Complete Works (ed. J. Cooper)
Online Coursepak (posted on Blackboard)
Exams
Two 1 hour short essay exams, one during mid-term period, the
other during
the first hour of the scheduled exam period.
Term Papers
Two term papers, 4-6 pages each
Grade to be based on
60% papers
30% exams
10% Class participation, etc.
