Synopsis of course content
Course examines film scores from the 1930s to the present, considering technical, structural, and aesthetic issues, as well as the problem of musical style. Representative film scores include Citizen Kane, Sunset Boulevard, Vertigo, Jaws, Batman, Titanic. All readings will be on E-reserve. Grade to be based on class attendance and participation, two written papers, final exam.
