Title CHORALE
Department MUSIC
Course Number2010 Spring 113
Section Number 01
Prerequisites

Synopsis of course content
The 50-voice Chorale sings choral music of many different styles, from
Renaissance to contemporary music, including masterpieces of such
composers as Bach and Mozart, music of 20th-century composers, and
arrangements of spirituals, folk music, and popular music from around the
world. Each year the Chorale tours during Spring Break, performing concerts
daily. A typical year includes one concert with professional orchestra, a major
spring concert, a Parents' Weekend Concert, a popular family-style Christmas
concert, and singing at some Duke basketball games and other official Duke
functions. The Chorale has released several CD recordings and cassettes.

Chorale members may also wish to be considered for the Chamber Choir, a
smaller group both which rehearses separately following full Chorale
rehearsals. The Chamber Choir usually performs one separate concert each
year and often sings some of its repertoire within full Chorale concerts.
