Synopsis of course content
This course focuses on how the various aspects of globalization affect, and are affected by, public policy and the capacity for governance at the international, national and local levels. Our principal objectives are threefold: develop an analytic framework for thinking about globalization and its overarching theories and core concepts, major institutions and political dynamics; delve into some of the major policy debates; and provide students with the opportunity to intensively research and write on an issue of particular interest.
Class sessions will be a mix of lectures, student presentations and discussion. Expectations are for attendance at all classes and for consistent, intensive and creative engagement.
