Major developments in psychology from the late nineteenth century to the present, with emphasis on the history of ideas. Synopsis of course content
How did psychology get from its beginnings as a separate field of study to where it is now? Includes consideration of the early psychology of consciousness, the development of psychoanalysis and clinical psychology, the rise of behaviorism, and the "cognitive revolution." Throughout, we will attempt to understand major views and how they developed, as well as to analyze them critically and evaluate them. AREA: Biological, Cognitive, Developmental, Personality. Course classifies as a Social Science.
