Synopsis of course content
The dominant tradition of philosophical thought since roughly the beginning of the last century is analytic philosophy. Familiarity with the roots of that tradition will greatly enhance your appreciation of what is going on in current philosophical debates. In this course, we will study classic papers by some of the founding figures of analytic philosophy, such as Gottlob Frege, Bertrand Russell and Ludwig Wittgenstein, as well as the intellectual context within which these authors were writing.
