Synopsis of course content
Students will become proficient at spontaneously composing single-note melodies over standard chord changes. Materials covered include:

1. Scales
2. Chords and arpeggios
3. Standard melodies and chord progressions
4. Historically important recordings

Students must perform weekly at each class and must perform at the semester-end concert.
