Synopsis of course content
Founded in 1930, the Duke University Jazz Ensemble has had a distinguished history. In recent years the Ensemble has the opportunity to perform with artists like Branford Marsalis, John Clayton, Steve Turre, Frank Foster, Nicholas Payton, Gerald Wilson, Eddie Palmieri and David "Fathead" Newman. We also perform for our annual Jazz series and in other concerts on and off campus.

During the Spring semester of 2009 we will performed our annual Valentine's Concert and gave concerts with Bernard Purdie and Randy Brecker.

Departmental ensembles may be taken for credit. Membership is open to all who are qualified--majors and non-majors alike.
