Synopsis of course content
This course explores cross cultural experiences and understandings of health and illness, the body and non-biological aspects of medicine. We will examine culture-specific sickness (like envidia, running amok, attention deficit disorder). The course also addresses class, race, and gender inflected experiences of health. This course has been approved for the Global Health Certificate at Duke.
