Synopsis of course content
Students in this course will study Greek civilization (1700-323 BC), with emphasis on primary sources in translation. We will read texts from Homer, Herodotus, Plato, and Plutarch, along with selected pieces of modern scholarship. Students will be responsible for (1) attending class prepared to ask questions, (2) 4 three-page response-papers, (3) a midterm, and (4) a final.
