Synopsis of course content
This course surveys a range of disciplinary perspectives on key topics in African American Studies: slavery and abolitionism; theories of race and racism; gender, sexuality, class, and race; the era of Jim Crow; cultural expressions; political and intellectual thought; black American liberation struggles from the 17th through the 21st centuries; the development of Black/African American Studies as a cross-disciplinary epistemological project; and race and public policy.
