Synopsis of course content
Harmonic and contrapuntal techniques of mid-to-late 19th century tonal music,
including linear chromaticism, techniques of modulation and sequence.
Analytic investigation of large forms (sonata, rondo). Repertory to include music
of Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Berlioz, Chopin, Brahms, Tchaikovsky,
Wagner, Musorgsky.
