Bulletin Course Description Introduction to the essential elements of French language and aspects of French/Francophone cultures. Open to students who have never studied French before, or to those who have not studied French more than two years in high school. Prerequisites
A score of 240-410 on the SAT II, or no previous study of the language. Students who have studied the language for 3 or more years in high school may NOT enroll in this course.
Synopsis of course content
The sequence French 1-2 introduces the essential elements of French language and aspects of French culture. French 1 covers the first half of the textbook. Aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing activities receive equal attention. Work in the language and computer laboratory is required. Class is conducted primarily in French. French 1 meets 5 times a week
