The OWL Discussion Groups
The Arts & Sciences OWL (Official Web Liaisons) group exists to provide a means of support and communication for Web developers and maintainers in Arts & Sciences and other areas of Duke University . In addition to occasional group meetings, the primary form of intra-OWL communication is the following set of 4 e-mail based discussion groups. Please feel free to subscribe to any of the lists, as appropriate (click on list name for subscription page):
OWL (main list) : WWW issues in A&S and Duke
The general list for Web developers, designers, maintainers, and others
interested in A&S Web issues. General OWL announcements and links submitted
for review will be posted to this list.
OWL-design :
Web design & development
Features more advanced and technical Web discussions, aimed at professional
Web developers, avid part-timers, and anyone who won't be scared off by
a bit of geek-speak. OWL-design is also the conduit for announcements concerning
the A&S Web Working Group .
OWL-edit : Web page maintenance & content-editing
OWL-edit is aimed at the community of Web editor/maintainers, the folks "on
the ground" adding content to A&S sites.
OWL-secure : Web programming & security issues
This list is the most technically-oriented of the four. It is aimed at
those currently doing or aspiring to do Web programming (CGI, PHP...) and
those interested in Web security issues.
Digested subscriptions are available for the above lists, although most are fairly low-traffic (less than 1 message per day), so digesting is probably not necessary. For more information about these lists and other Mailman-based lists in Arts & Sciences, see our Mailman information pages . If you choose to join one of the lists, welcome!
