Apartments
We offer attractive apartments on East Campus for faculty. We have worked diligently with the Department of Residence Life & Housing Services to develop accomodations suitable to the needs of faculty members living alone, those with spouses or partners, as well as those wtih children. The effective date of appointment (July 1) does not coincide with the date on which the apartment witll actually be available for occupancy. Apartments should normally be ready for occupancy in early August.
Unfurnished apartments in the residence halls are provided without cost to participating Faculty-in-Residence. In addition, all utilities, except telephone, are furnished without cost.
Allowance
Some board allowance will be allocated to encourage faculty members and their families to take some of their meals with house residents in University eateries. An allowance will also be available to defray expenses for occasional, informal entertainment of student and faculty groups.
Leave Opportunity
Faculty-in-Residence who are regular rank faculty in Arts & Sciences and who have fulfilled their obligations to the Program for three academic years will be offered a full semester's leave with pay or one year at half pay following completion of their residence on campus.
There are no provisions for leaves for Faculty-in-Residence who are not members of the faculty of Arts & Sciences.
It is, of course, understood that Faculty-in-Residence will be free during their term of service to travel for purposes of research and professional enrichment. It is expected, however, that they will not be absent for extended periods during the academic year.
