JS/KAK.WORM virus
The KAK worm was one of the first worms to use the Windows ActiveX exploit.
It is a fairly benign worm, but it pointed the way for subsequent worms to
do considerable damage.
The KAK worm regularly shows up at in email attachments delivered to Duke.
Frequently, however, pre-scanning of email at the file server level has
detected and stopped this virus.
Here are some critical safeguards:
- Infection via email compose in HTML
- Make sure Email Viewers don't automatically render HTML.
- Install ActiveX exploit patch for Windows OS's:
