Starting the VNC Server Service on Windows 2000


  • Navigate to the Services control panel.
  • A "Services" window will appear, with a list of services. Scroll down and click on VNC Server as shown below.


     

  • Under the "Action" menu, click Start.
  • A window similar to below will appear while Windows 2000 attempts to start the VNC Server.


     
    Note: On the "Services" control panel, the Startup Type for the VNC Server is Automatic. Thus, the VNC Server will start at boot for any subsequent boots.
     

  • Once the service starts successfully, the VNC password will need setting. See Setting the VNC password in the VNC configuration and installation page.
